ABOUT SAM BREWER

I am a photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Photography has been my passion since I was 5 years old stealing my father's camera to take photos. I still "borrow" some of his equipment from time to time.

I specialize in capturing the beauty of nature and the essence of people through my lens. I love to create visual stories that evoke emotions and leave a lasting impression.

I was born and raised here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. When I was 4 years old our family moved to St Andrews, Scotland so that my father could pursue his PhD. After 3 years there and 1 PhD later we moved back to Michigan where we would stay for another 3 years. A new opportunity for work made it clear that The Bahamas would be our next adventure. We packed up and left, keeping our home in Michigan. We lived in Nassau for 3 years and enjoyed it but the Covid-19 Pandemic hit and we had to leave due to island restrictions. I have lived in Michigan ever since. My multicultural background has not only shaped how I see the broader world but also how I train my eyes to look for photos.
